Some cafes and restaurants put pots with olive trees in front of their building, sometimes around the outdoor seats. Last fall I randomly picked a ripe olive from one of those trees. At home I peeled aways the fruit and cracked open the pit. Inside was a seed that I pushed into the soil of another pot (a citrus tree that I also grew from a seed). I almost forgot about it when I recently noticed that something start growing in that pot.
Those very small seedlings are very hard to identify and I certainly couldn’t tell it’s an olive tree just from looking at it. But what else could it be in this case?
Here are the pictures. I can’t wait for the first true leaves to unfold. They should show the typical shape of an olive.
